I wish we could start the summer again and I would come each week to Chillicothe Farmers Market. The people are so nice and I had loads of fun, I plan to come more often in 2009. {September 27, 2008}
Welcome to our Market!
A second Market opportunity begins on Tuesday, July 14th. For about eight weeks the Chillicothe Farmers’ Market will set up in the parking lot of the Main Library on South Paint St. between 4:00 and 6:00. Though the number of vendors may be smaller, the variety of fruits and vegetables will be excellent. An array of music and entertainment is planned.
Members of the Market Board are always available to answer your questions and hear comments. Market Events: Each week Chillicothe Farmers’ Market features a local non-profit organization, cooking event or activity to educate the public. The following is a list of events planned for the July and August Markets:
August 1st- Bluegrass Music
August 8th- Friends of Market Cooking Demonstration at 9:00 and 10:00
August 15th- Master Gardeners to answer your gardening questions
August 29th- Second Health Fair with Lipid testing, Message therapy, Dr. Brandon Hanes chiropractic, Nutrition information.
Chillicothe Farmers Market pioneers Senior Nutrition Coupons. Representatives of the Council on Aging have provided training for several Market vendors to accept Senior Nutrition Coupons for produce this summer at Market. Chillicothe is the first Market in the area to pilot the project which is working very well.
Our Market now also accepts credit/ Debit and Ohio Direction Cards in exchange for Market Tokens which are used as cash. WIC coupons are now arriving and several new vendors have received this training to authorize the acceptance of WIC
