Bess and Maude’s Quick Cobbler
Submitted by: Bart Henshaw on July 5, 2008
Author: From the Jack Daniels Cook Book
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Dash of salt
1 cup sugar
In a 9x9 baking pan:
Melt 1/2 stick butter (1/4 cup), cool slightly
2/3 cup milk
Add the dry ingredients Spread 1 quart of fruit across the top
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden and bubbly
Serve with homemade ice cream or if in a hurry cool whip.
Note: Recipe suggests to sweeten the fruit, but I have done this with berries, apples and peaches without the added sugar. This is one of the easiest and most dependable cobblers that we have tried. The kids found the recipe in this barbecue book years ago and we use it constantly.
